In 2011, Lafayette identified a unique opportunity to buy, renovate and rent single-family homes in the US and provide European investors exposure to the US Real Estate market recovery.
Since its launch, Lafayette was followed by other large institutions which have, in total, acquired more than 300,000 single-family homes for rent (SFR). A new commercial real estate asset class was born, and Lafayette is one of its veterans. With close to 4,000 homes under management, Lafayette is one of the top 15 largest SFR owners in the US.
In 2014 we created Brandywine Homes, a property management company that manages 100% of the Lafayette portfolio. The Lafayette and Brandywine teams are working hard to provide best-in-class management services to their residents to maximize lease renewal rates and control operating costs.
Lafayette takes pride in participating in the US real estate recovery, positively impacting the neighborhoods where it operates, renovating vacant homes, creating jobs, and providing good quality houses for families that don’t want to or cannot become homeowners.
In 2016, Lafayette launched Lafayette Lending, a private lending activity dedicated to single-family home investors.
In 2018 Lafayette recapitalized and merged its existing funds to create a long-term investment company: Lafayette Longview. It also launched Fund III with a hybrid strategy (SFR equity and credit).
In 2019 and 2022, Lafayette launched two joint ventures with two large US institutions to focus on a Build-for-Rent strategy and provide much-needed supply to the SFR market.
